The Raymond John Wean Foundation Announces 2025 Racial Equity Institute Workshops

WARREN, OHIO—JANUARY 15, 2025—The Raymond John Wean Foundation will again sponsor two-day race equity and inclusion workshops in 2025. The Wean Foundation has sponsored the workshops, which are coordinated by ThirdSpace Action Lab of Cleveland and facilitated by the Racial Equity Institute (REI) of Greensboro, N.C., in the Mahoning Valley since 2017. The dates of this year’s Mahoning Valley workshops are:

● April 9 and 10 (in person)
● June 4 and 5 (in person)
● August 6 and 7 (virtual)

All workshops take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. over two days. The in-person sessions take place at the Wean Foundation offices at 147 West Market Street in downtown Warren.

Nearly 1,000 community members have attended a Wean Foundation-sponsored REI workshop, which is thoughtfully crafted to empower participants with a deeper comprehension of racism in its institutional and structural forms. The workshops offer an insightful exploration of racism through historical, cultural and structural analysis. By gaining a clearer understanding of how institutions and systems contribute to unjust and inequitable outcomes, participants leave the training better equipped to initiate positive change.

“We have heard from nonprofit and civic leaders that the experience is transformative and has directly impacted their work for the better,” said Wean Foundation President Jennifer Roller. “We want to keep offering our community that experience, which we believe builds a shared understanding of our challenges and a shared vision of what a more equitable Mahoning Valley looks like.”

Individuals interested in participating can find more details and register here.
