The Raymond John Wean Foundation Announces Resident Engagement Grant Opportunity

WARREN, OHIO—MARCH 25, 2024—Registration is open for The Raymond John Wean Foundation’s spring Resident Engagement Grant opportunity. The Wean Foundation’s Resident Engagement Grants support initiatives aimed at fostering community engagement and empowerment in Warren and Youngstown neighborhoods.

To be considered for a grant of up to $5,000, neighborhood organizations and grassroots groups can follow these four easy steps:

  1. Register for a Resident Engagement Grant Workshop. Residents can attend either two weeknight sessions on Wednesday, April 10, and Thursday, April 11, from 5 to 7 p.m., or a combined workshop on Saturday, April 20, from 8 a.m. until noon.
  2. Complete a Short Online Training. Before attending a workshop, attendees must watch Candid’s Introduction to Project Budgets, a roughly one-hour video that provides step-by-step instructions on how to generate a standard project budget, and complete a brief questionnaire.
  3. Attend a Resident Engagement Workshop. All workshops will be held at the Wean Foundation. Refreshments will be served.
  4. Complete a Short Application. A link to the application will be emailed after registering for a workshop.

“This is a great opportunity to engage with other local leaders, learn together and apply for funding,” said Fallon Peterson, senior director of programs and operations. “The Wean Foundation’s Resident Engagement Grants are distributed just twice a year.”

The Resident Engagement Grant from the Wean Foundation “has really started our organization and made our organization more known in the community than it was before,” said Million Perry-Phifer, CEO of The Persayus Way Project, a past grantee.

Those interested in participating can register for a workshop here. Links to the online training and the full application will be emailed following registration. The deadline to register is Friday, April 5.
